Reflecting on Comma’s 2025 Retreat: Our Team, Values, and Purpose

Rituals have the power to connect people, foster belonging, and boost engagement — and our annual Comma Copywriters retreat is living proof. When our fully remote team comes together every year, we leave happy, inspired, and ready to do our best work for our clients.

This year, our retreat embraced a remote-first approach. The leadership team gathered in the spacious and sun-filled conference room at U.S. Bank in Farmington, Utah, while the 19 members strong writing team tuned in via Zoom.

Crystalee kicked off the event with a visual of Comma’s remote team across the map — spanning California, Utah, Colorado, the Midwest, and up and down the East Coast.

She then highlighted our Comma Values:

  • Freedom – Life first!

  • Accountability – Show up, own your work

  • Humility – Work as a team, no egos

  • Curiosity – Keep learning and growing

  • Care – Put your heart into it

These values guide everything we do at Comma: how we approach our work, collaborate, and show up for our clients. One way we put the value of Care into action is through our partnership with Kurandza, an organization dedicated to providing education and opportunities for girls in need.

This year, our support has sponsored 25 girls' education by covering essentials like tuition, uniforms, supplies, and transportation. During the retreat, Crystalee shared their photos, and we took turns learning about their dreams and goals.

According to McKinsey, employees at purpose-driven companies are four times more engaged. At Comma, we’ve seen this firsthand — the impact of our work with Kurandza keeps us motivated and reinforces the purpose behind what we do every day.

2025 in Review: Comma’s Achievements in 2025

Next, Crystalee shared the many milestones Comma achieved in 2025:

Comma also hosted three successful Marketers on Mountains hikes and took Cheesecake & Content Chats on tour to Provo, Lehi, Phoenix, and Denver.

Lessons in Client Success

Sarah emphasized that client success is a team effort, rather than a one-person role. In line with this collaborative approach, she introduced Comma’s Marketing Minds Council for 2025 — a group of eight executive marketing leaders who share unique insights, experiences, and strategies for success across industries.

She closed with a reminder of why this matters, quoting Michael LeBoeuf:

“A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all.”

At Comma, we carry this belief into all we do, providing value for clients with polished, fluff-free content that reaches the right audience and helps marketers save time.

Insights from Comma’s Writers

Lindsey reflected on how client feedback has improved her writing and editing skills.

“Staying curious instead of defensive has helped me have a good attitude and become a better editor,” she said.

Next, Lisa gave tips on writing for AI discovery, highlighting the importance of understanding the user’s intent and sharing the most relevant information first.

“Don’t just create relevant content, add value,” she said. “AI looks not just at relevancy, but quality.”

Finally, Brooke shared productivity affirmations, including: “I know where I need to make changes to better manage my time” and “I’m grateful for the opportunity to make meaningful contributions.”
