Cheesecake & Content Chats —  2025 Provo Recap

That’s a wrap! The final stop in our 2025 Cheesecake + Content Chats tour brought Comma Copywriters to Provo, Utah. Our team hosted local marketing leaders for an energizing and connective afternoon at Kiln Provo. Couldn't make it? We've wrapped up highlights from the event, so you won't miss out.

This year marked our first time taking Content Chats on the road outside of Utah. After great events in Phoenix, Lehi, and Denver, our Provo event was the perfect way to wrap up the road trip.

Of course, all of this wouldn’t be possible without the beautiful and collaborative space at Kiln. There’s nothing that makes us happier than seeing a room full of marketers eager to connect, share ideas, and grow together. We felt that energy in the beautiful Kiln setting.

Top Takeaways from the Kiln Provo Event

Marie-Reine Pugh, Writing Team Manager at BambooHR

“You can create value that AI can’t generate by sharing real human stories,” said Marie-Reine Pugh, writing team manager at BambooHR. AI is creeping into writing and content marketing, but Marie-Reine shared a message of hope and human connection. Instead of scraping the surface, marketers need to dig deeper to share authentic human connections. We can go where AI can’t go and put your customers and our people first.

Marketers need to do what AI can’t do: be human. At BambooHR, that means telling human stories and sharing original insights. Marie-Reine’s team connects with other teams across the organization to tap into their insights and share innovative, original content. Those unique insights set BambooHR apart from AI and all happen because of human connections.

Matt Checketts, Head of Content at Pattern

As AI evolves and technology changes, a company’s social presence and its understanding of changing SEO are more important than ever. Those are priorities Matt Checketts, head of content at Pattern, tries to balance every day.

And although Matt admitted that SEO feels like it’s dead, it still plays a crucial role in marketing. “SEO is the base of the cake,” he said. “You need to have traditional SEO best practices in place at the base so you can build on that.”

Pattern’s GEO scorecard includes SEO ranking, reach, and suggestions on how a company can improve its online presence with AI.

Brands must be intentional with their social media to connect with people and the content they want to engage with. That can feel like an overwhelming task, but Matt made a simple recommendation: repurpose, repurpose, repurpose.

Creating videos and then using the transcripts of those videos for a wide range of social content helps teams expand their social presence and build stronger connections. More than anything else, authenticity always wins. Building authentic, human relationships is what puts companies ahead. Technology can amplify the message and boost the relationship, but it’s nothing without authenticity at the foundation.

Leslie Greve, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Trucordia

All the best marketing has one thing in common: it's intentional. Leslie compared the concept to a plane that can end up completely off course with only a few minor changes at takeoff. Branding is the same way — even little changes or missteps can significantly impact the final result.

“There are 100 things that can happen between your idea and your executive that pull you off track,” Leslie said. Staying on track means having full alignment over every decision you make. For Leslie, that means establishing your 'why' and returning to it throughout the process.

As a marketer, you can’t simply let things happen. You have to be intentional, know your client, do your research, and stay connected to your why. Being intentional builds authenticity and the most impactful connections and results.

A big thank you to our incredible speakers, our emcee Yahosh Bonner, the incredible team at Kiln, and the marketing leaders who joined us for a memorable, insightful event.
