Comma Earns Recognition for Strong Company Culture
We’ve always been proud of our company culture and intentional about how we operate to enable life-first work—and now, we’re honored to be recognized for the culture we’ve curated. Comma Copywriters was recently named a finalist for the Silicon Slopes Hall of Fame Company Culture Award, a testament to our dedication to freedom and flexibility for every team member.
A Peek at the Award
The Silicon Slopes Hall of Fame and Awards Gala recognizes Utah’s diverse community of companies, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. The annual event also features a variety of awards for individuals and companies, everything from top CEO to best community champion. The Company Culture Award recognizes organizations that “put purpose, people, and progress first — creating inclusive, empowering workplaces where teams thrive and values drive action.”
The Comma team celebrated at the Gala, held in the iconic Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City. The room was buzzing with excitement from the state’s brightest business leaders and innovators. Rubbing shoulders and sharing the stage with so many incredible companies showed the impact of Comma's work and culture. Hopefully, our focus on creating a life-first environment can spread to other companies.
What Makes Comma’s Culture Unique
Comma’s culture is represented in our values: freedom, accountability, humility, curiosity, and care. These aren’t just words on a webpage; these are things we live by every day in how we treat our work, our clients, and ourselves.
At the center of Comma’s culture is our commitment to life-first work. In the words of our founder and CEO, Crystalee Beck, “Life first work means honoring the human experience, highs and lows.”
What does that look like in action? It means prioritizing family and personal growth over hitting quotas or being tied to work. Our team members work remotely and complete a monthly survey to report their availability. That means no one is taking on more work than fits into the rest of their life. Our team members can bring their whole selves to work, from sharing the ups and downs of life to chatting about favorite books or sharing photos of how they used their Bucket List Grant ($1,000 awarded after three years of service to cross something off their bucket list).
“We put life first with flexible remote schedules, part-time options, and minimal meetings. I want to give our writers as much freedom and flexibility as possible,” Beck said.
At Comma, writers are human, and we treat them like that. It’s not something we do for awards or recognition — we do it because it’s the right thing to do. But the recognition shows us that people care about life-first work. And we hope more companies will join.
